Designing E-learning - Learner and Context

Think of designing e-learning material as planning a journey. To plan a journey effectively and avoid unnecessary diversions you need to know where you are traveling to and how to get there. It is the same with e-learning. The purpose of e-learning and needs of learners need to be established to prevent designers becoming misguided. The following points should be considered in relation to the learner and context and usability.
