Testing for usability - Scenarios and thinking aloud
Who and what do these methods involve? Scenarios/thinking aloud give an opportunity to obtain feedback from the learner about usability of e-learning. Scenarios involve setting the learner specific tasks to complete using e-learning materials whilst being observed. The learner usually completes these tasks using very simple electronic or paper-based prototypes of the e-learning material. Tasks focus the learner's attention and enable feedback on specific aspects of e-learning to be obtained. Feedback from different learners is therefore consistent and can be compared. Thinking aloud involves the learner verbalising their thoughts whilst using e-learning material. |
