The teaching
The following structured approach is based on the widely used SNAPPS model.
The six steps:
1. Summarise the history and findings
2. Narrow the differential diagnosis to two or three relevant possibilities
3. Analyse the differential diagnosis by comparing and contrasting the possibilities
4. Probe the student by asking questions about uncertainties, difficulties or alternative approaches
5. Plan management further management
6. Select a case-related issue for self-directed learning.
