What do you understand by the terms independent prescribing and supplementary prescribing?

Roles and responsibilities
Independent prescribers are practitioners responsible and accountable for the assessment of patients with previously undiagnosed or diagnosed conditions and for decisions about the clinical management required, including prescribing. Independent prescribers must work within their own level of professional competence and expertise.
Supplementary prescribers implement an agreed Clinical Management Plan for an individual patient, with that patient’s agreement, in partnership with an independent prescriber (a doctor or a dentist).
