Visual clarity

Which font style has been chosen and why? Is it readable?

Can icons be seen clearly and does the learner understand what they represent?

For the content of e-learning material to be usable, the format/presentation must be clear. Text serves little purpose if it is small or the font style unreadable, affecting communication of content. The design should be simple to prevent overwhelming the user with information which could affect engagement with e-learning material. In addition, the visual design should be consistent with regard to font style, size and colour, and use of icons. Confusion and distraction could otherwise result, with negative implications for the effectiveness and efficiency of learning and learner satisfaction. It is likely that visual clarity adds to the aesthetic appeal of e-learning.
