An effective Research supervisor has many roles to fulfil.
Leader - to provide leadership and professionalism during the intellectual process
Facilitator - to provide a facilitative learning and research environment
Guide - to direct and show the way
Teacher - to provide speciality resources and information during the intellectual process
Coach - to encourage and support
Mentor - to reflect on own experiences for the student's benefits
Role Model - to show behaviour and characteristics that can be emulated by others
